THE EMOTIONAL HEART

THE HEART OF THE MATTER
Psychology has discovered that the body's influence on the mind, concerning heart rate variability or the interval of time between beats, plays a key role in social behaviors ranging from decision-making, regulating emotions, coping with stress, and even with engaging academically.Decreased HRV appears to be related to depression and autism, along with deliberate processing of information. While increased HRV can be associated with greater social skills, such as empathy, and stressful social situations, such as public speaking,or job evaluation. The theory states that the vagus nerve provides input to the heart guiding complex relationships, placing emphasis on heart rate variability, and not simply the heart rate. Studies also indicate that people's altered HRV rates in an individual can predict their emotional response and ability to respond emotionaly to positive or negative feedback.Leaving the aspect of the heart playing a part in Human emotion...

So you are saying that a positive or a negative feedback will affect your heart rate just the same? In that case, let's go with a posivitve one:-)))
That's something how and organ not much larger than your fist can control so much behavior within ourselves. Nice to have a heart. Very nice work. Bless Your Heart and GBY
Incredible connection between heart, mind and soul. Thanks Mentalist Acer I really enjoyed reading your hub! :)
I absolutely think that is true, although if you are frightened for example, your body is going to pump out more adrenalin as compared to being happy which will speed up your heart. I saw many strange things in 22 years of nursing and unless there is some electrolyte imbalance I think the new findings are right and it is interesting to think of the heart that way.
Perhaps that's how the heart got it's name. It is the heart of our soul and being. It's what makes us tick...no pun intended. :) Great prose, Mentalist, as always.
Very Deep Mentalist Acer - Very Deep... I doubt we'd be able to comprehend it all.
Great Hub.
Man, I like the way you approached this ... cool post!!
I loved this hub. Thank you so much for sharing.
Take care.
MA, I have a fast heart rate, so if I understand you well, I do not have empathy and I am not good at stressful jobs? :-)
Iv'e always believed that the heart is connected to the soul. I know the brain is our thought processing action, but the heart is the builder of thought. I have a slow heart rate( Which is called Bradycardia)I guess i should be depressed but i'm not.Thank you for the article, very interesting.
Very interesting insight into human behavior! A Sony & Cher YouTube of "The Beat goes On" would really put it over the top!
Interesting way of explaining about science. Simple but almost complete. If you lecturer, your student must be love you very much. :)
In my humble opinion, the entire body and soul are interrelated. The exact activities associated with how each affects the others is still being studied, but the progress in understanding at least the general "rules"is good. De Greek - I don't see that lacking empathy - f indeed you do, which is somewhat doubtful - is associated with a fast heart rate. I'd suppose it was more associated with a slower one. Now the connection between fast heart rates and stress is more apparent. It's almost a "no-brainer", in fact. But if faster hearts mean better social skills, surely they include enough empathy to get along with others! You do seem to do that.
Thanks!
This information is incredible!
Who would have known all those emotions and conditions really did coincide with our actual hearts. Loved it!
Had never heard data like this before!
Thank You!
from Kimberly too!
Mentalist acer,
Great tune to listen to while reading this great hub. You know this is my kind of thing as a person in mental health field. You and followers must research quantum physics. Head and hearts together = great combo
It is so vital to think and be, what we think is what we be.
I offer this for all to think of themselves;
I'm whole, perfect, powerful, strong, loving and harmonious! Love and Peace be with all :)
Awesomely beautiful. I wish mine was in one piece or one peace. God bless! Beautiful music!
Beautiful explorable topic once again. Prose meets Science. I like the sound of it.=)
The whole is always more than the sum of its parts! The body is the basis of all.
Thanks for sharing this important research. Do you perhaps have a link or other reference to this?
Love and peace
Tony
Wonderful I fully believe that my heart rules my life! Definitely when it comes to love anyway. An awesome read and voting up, thanks for sharing your fascinating hub.
I'm glad I found this when I did. I missed this hub until tonight, and I've had a lot of "heart" lessons over the years--and esp the last six months in some ways. I've never doubted the heart being at the center of our being, of our very existence (not counting the tick!) and having a play in every single tiny facet of our thought/feeling processes. Interestingly, I got so angry one night many years ago my heart went into a tachycardia attack I doubt any machine could have tracked! I literally started talking to my heart as though it were another person (yes, so I'm what one person called "volatile' and several 'weird'). I just kept telling it it could quit. It did finally. Quit. Just simply quit. Scared the pants off me! So then I started saying aloud, "okay, I didn't quit, like quit, quit. You can beat just don't do that stuff you were doing, and it seemed forever, but eventually (about the time I decided I would die before I could dial 911) it beat. First once, then a couple of times, and after a while, I would have thought it had never happened. But it did. I have had unbelievable arrhythmia ever since--I get a kick out of med students who can't get a reading. Like always exploring, it tends to be slow, but depression is not my problem. Yes, your info on the heart is, I believe, right on!
xcellent hUb.....
Hello acer,
I believe some of this might possibly play a part, of the human condition, however I also believe that humans are much too complex to ever put into words for we are just mere mortals passing through. our connection with the heart I believe extends further than any mans imagination, for it is a spiritual thing and beyond our grasp.
Mentalist acer, another great Hub! I've missed reading them!
In Japanese, KOKORO means heart, mind and spirit or soul... the research seems to make sense out of this word :)
